Rangana Herath

Rangana Herath, born on March 19, 1978, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and a former Test captain for Sri Lanka. Renowned as the most successful left-arm bowler in Test cricket history, Herath took 433 wickets in his career. He surpassed records set by Daniel Vettori and Wasim Akram, becoming the first left-arm spinner to take 400 Test wickets. Herath played for Sri Lanka from 1999 to 2018 and was part of the team that won the 2014 ICC World Twenty20. He also worked as a spin bowling consultant for the Bangladesh cricket team.

Herath achieved several milestones, including the best bowling figures in Test matches by a left-arm spinner and being the third Sri Lankan bowler to take 300 Test wickets. He captained Sri Lanka during their tour to Zimbabwe in 2016 and retired from international cricket in November 2018. His final match was against England, where he took his 100th wicket at Galle, concluding his career with 433 Test wickets.
